Exploring Practices That Support Living a Faithful Lifestyle
Being faithful to God can be seen in the little things, such as starting the day with a prayer or reading the Bible more frequently. Let’s look at some practices you can try that support living a faithful lifestyle. These practices are easy to follow for a stronger connection with God.
Always Ask for God’s Grace
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6.
Asking for God’s grace requires you to be Christ’s follower so you can live a faithful life. Be personal when praying to God to give you grace. Tell God how much you want to become an excellent follower and how you want to be more like Jesus.
Confess Your Sins to God
Another example that supports a faithful lifestyle is confessing your sins. We all make mistakes, and God will quickly forgive you if He sees that you feel sorry and if you’re ready to change. All you should do is reach out to Him and ask God to forgive you. Ask for His help to avoid that temptation in the future.
Read God’s Word
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16
The Bible is a book of stories, lessons, and love letters from God. So don’t be content to just skim and scan through the pages and chapters. Doing so will not allow you to live a steadfast lifestyle. Instead, read them thoroughly, integrate, and keep them in your heart. Its message will guide you each day of your life.
Set Spiritual Objectives
An effectively faithful life entails realistic and timely goal-setting. As the old saying goes, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Set a time frame for these objectives and plan how you will accomplish them.
Work on your spiritual goals, even if it means sacrificing worldly pleasures. For example, instead of going to the mall or drinking out with your friends every weekend, why not take a few hours to attend worship services?
Fear God
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” – Matthew 10:28
Fear of the Lord does not negatively mean anything. It only means we are in awe of God’s sacredness and honor his perfection and power. We also respect God for their ability to protect all creatures, especially humankind.
Join Faithful Communities
Being surrounded by like-minded faithful people for worship and fellowship is another fantastic practice, strengthening your relationship with Christ. Join a Church that caters to your Christian needs and goals. You’ll obtain significant lessons from leaders while meeting the best people with whom you can share God’s glory.
Other groups you can try joining include Bible study groups and missions. They offer enjoyable activities that will enhance your devotion.
Rely on the Holy Spirit
“They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” – Acts 2:3-4
The Holy Spirit is always present in our lives, guiding and praying for us. This should give you peace of mind knowing you can surrender every problem to God. Make sure the Holy Spirit takes over your life decisions.
Take Responsibility
Being a follower of Christ requires a lot of responsibility. Be accountable for your soul and others, especially Christians who need help most. This is how you can make a difference in the world.
Worship God
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” – Hebrews 13:15
One major practice supporting living a faithful lifestyle is worshiping God. Start your day by praising God. Pray intentionally and listen to worship music. You can also write down everything you are thankful for. Make sure to appreciate God’s creations, including the people He surrounds you with.
