Verse of the Day

Matthew 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Reflections On The Scripture: This verse calls us to a higher standard of righteousness, not one that is ostentatious or legalistic as was with the scribes and Pharisees. Their righteousness was external, focused more on obeying the law and appearing holy to others. But God demands a righteousness that is internal, one that comes from the heart. It's a righteousness that doesn’t just act out of obligation to the law but rather out of love and desire to please God. It's not about adhering to rules and regulations, it's about cultivating a relationship with God and letting His spirit lead us to live in truth and grace. So, let our righteousness be pure, let it exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, let our goodness mirror the purity and love of God Himself. Then, and only then, can we inherit the kingdom of heaven.
