Reflections On The Scripture: When scripture refers to "giving the portion of the priests," it is speaking to the importance of support and encouragement within our communities. The priests and Levites represent those among us who are tirelessly dedicated to the works of the Lord, often sacrificing their own earthly pleasures to ensure the spiritual growth and well-being of the community. It is our responsibility, as members of the same community, to ensure they receive the necessary sustenance, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. This very act of giving doesn't merely sustain them, but it also instills in them the encouragement they need to carry on their divine tasks. When we give, we are not only supporting the works of the Church, but reinforcing our reaffirmation of God’s laws, enabling those who guide us to do so with renewed vigor and passion.
