The 7 Different Types of Good People You Need In Your Life According to the Bible

During his short time on this earth, Jesus surrounded himself with others. He did not try to act alone, as that would have been an act of pride. Jesus knew that every individual needs others. Let us look to Jesus to see the seven different types of good people you need in your life.

Spiritual Leader

We all need someone to turn to for spiritual guidance. Although God’s spirit lives within us, we sometimes need another human to help guide our way. In the church, that spiritual leader can be a Rabbi, a minister, a Priest, or another church leader.

The church offers spiritual leaders that address our needs as a congregation and as individuals. Those who need it can always seek private counsel with spiritual leaders within the church organization.

Another kind of spiritual leader can be people like Gandhi or Indian gurus; however, they are not directly involved in most people’s lives. Jesus’ spiritual leader was God himself, whom Jesus was able to speak with directly. We all need to have a spiritual leader with whom we can converse directly.

Spiritual Supporter

It’s important to have a spiritual supporter in your life. For Jesus, his spiritual supporters were his Apostles, who believed in Jesus and what he was trying to achieve spiritually.

Your spiritual supporter should support your religious beliefs, including its traditions and requirements. This person might be another member of your congregation or another person who shares the same religious beliefs as you do.

A spiritual supporter is also someone whom you can turn to if you ever have doubts about your faith; they can gently guide you back into the faith. This would also be a person with whom you can pray in moments of distress or need.

Someone to Take Care Of

Jesus knew that we all needed someone to take care of. Taking care of another person brings out our compassion and the most generous aspects of our nature. When you care for another person, you give to them. You give them time, money, or possessions.

You help them grow and develop into good people who will be welcome in God’s Kingdom in the ever after. Jesus took care of his flock and others whom he cared for.

Jesus took responsibility for others. When he gave the Sermon on the Mount, he knew that the audience would be hungry and thirsty after a day in the hot sun.

He took care of them by performing a miracle. In your life, the person you take care of may be your child or the child of a relative. It may be your aging parent or a spouse who is having a hard time.

Someone to Challenge You

Jesus was not surrounded by “yes men.” He had many challengers who did not believe that Jesus was the Savior that had been prophesied about for so many years.

When Jesus was challenged, he took the opportunity to explain what God wants for mankind. This made him an even greater figure and earned him even more followers.

You might not think that a person who challenges you is a good person. But they give you a chance to be better.

They help you grow by challenging you. And having someone challenge you gives you the opportunity to say aloud the things that you believe in and the things that you are striving for.

Someone to Help

Jesus helped Mary Magdalene when the temple priests wanted to cast her aside. By allowing her to wash his feet, he gave her credibility so that others would treat her with kindness as he did.

We all need someone to help in our lives. This person would be a stranger, someone who you don’t have to help.

Helping others is a demonstration that we are “doing unto others as we would have them do unto us,” as God commanded. For you, this person may be an elderly neighbor whom you check on regularly to make sure she’s okay and safe.

Or it might be a co-worker whom you know is struggling with juggling work and family life after having a new baby at home.

Someone Who Loves You

God wants you to know that you are loved. God loves you. But God also wants you to have others who love you.

Perhaps that is why God created the family unit, so we are each born with people who love us, like mothers and fathers. As you get older, you may find another adult to love you and become your spouse.

You may make friends who become so close that the friendship turns into paternal love. Jesus had people who loved him. As he died on the cross, the people who love him knelt at his feet, weeping for his suffering.

Someone to Bring to God

Finally, there is another type of good person that you need in your life, according to the Bible. That is someone whom you can bring to God.

Throughout your life, you can emulate Jesus by sharing the news of the Bible. You don’t have to give up your worldly possessions and travel the world to do this.

You can do this by example, sharing your values, and explaining why you don’t indulge in certain behaviors. You can be a leader by example, in much the same way that Jesus was a leader by example.

Jesus brought billions of people to God, and he continues to do so throughout time, with the Word of God written in the Bible. Will you do the same?

If you feel that you are lacking one or more of these seven types of people, don’t worry. God has a way of making sure that we all get what we need.

As time goes on, you will find that the good people you need will make their way into your life.
