Why-You Shouldnt-Fear Leaving-This-World

Why You Shouldn’t Fear Leaving This World

Death is one of the most common fears in this world, even among Christians. The unknown can be scary, that is true, but if we are studying God’s word, then there really is no unknown when it comes time for you to leave this world.

The Bible is full of promises about what happens next once our time here is over.

Fear is a Spirit that God did not Give To You

The first thing to understand is that fear is not natural to us. The Bible clearly says that God did not give it to us. True, some translations talk about “fearing” God, but that is not scary fear; rather, it’s more reverence and respect.

Being afraid is not something that we, as Christians, should give in to. It is a spirit that is NOT of God, which means it is a spirit, a devil, that will keep you bound. You need to rebuke it. Then you will be free to have that power and love and sound mind.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

If You are Obedient to His Word, He will Never Forsake You

Over and over throughout scripture, we are reminded that God will never leave us or forsake us. He told his faithful, and those promises are for you too. As long as you are faithful to Him and obey Him, He will honor that by not leaving or forsaking you.

Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5

You Were Created in God’s Image

We all were created in God’s image, and John 4:24 tells us that God is a spirit. That means that we are spiritual beings first and foremost.

This world and your body in this world are temporary, but as God is an eternal spirit, so are you. And because you are a spirit first, those are the rules that you will live and die by.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27

This World is Not Your Home

God’s word is clear; this world is not your home. If you are obedient to God, you don’t fit in here. In John 15:19, Jesus told His disciples that they were not of the world.

Well, the same applies to those who are faithful to Him today. If you are serving Him, He is calling you out of the world – because He has something far, far better in store for you.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. 1 John 2:15-17

You are the Apple of God’s Eye

Your faithfulness to God has bought you His favor, and just like David, you are the apple of His eye. He will keep you and protect you. He will shield you from an eternity of torment. Have faith in Him, and trust Him to care for you.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, Psalm 17:8

He has Prepared a Place for You

Jesus promised that He has prepared a place for us. When He returns, He will receive you, and you will abide in Him forever. What a wonderful picture that is! What joy it must be to spend eternity with Jesus and experience all that He has prepared for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3

He will Wipe Every Tear from Your Eyes

Many people fear death because they don’t want to leave loved ones behind, or they fear they will miss those they love. But God said He would wipe away our tears, and with Him, in eternity, there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, and no more pain.

All of those things are of the world and will be passed away.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

If You are Faithful to Him, You Will Not Die

Jesus said that if you are faithful to Him, if you obey Him, you will not die. Now, this does not mean you will escape the death of your earthly body because that is the natural course of life. But you will live on with Him in a new body that will last forever.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25-26

If You are Obedient to Him, You will Never See Death

If you are obedient to God, you will not die. Scripture promises that over and over. And how do you know what to do to obey God? You study His word. Studying scripture and praying daily will enrich your life and help keep you in line with the word of God so that you don’t sin against Him.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. John 8:51

Your Eternal Body Will be Raised in Glory and Power

Now, this is exciting! Not only will you be able to spend eternity with Jesus, but you will also get a new body – a spiritual body!

This new body will be perfect and glorious. It will be powerful and strong. You will be transformed in reward for your faithfulness to God, and that is something to get excited about.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 1 Corinthians 15: 42-45

This is really just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the promises God makes about what happens when we leave this Earth. And if you draw close to Him, you will have nothing to fear. Be obedient, be faithful, and you will have no fear about leaving this world.
