New Year's Resolutions That Will Help You Strengthen Your Faith

New Year’s Resolutions That Will Help You Strengthen Your Faith

While others plan to hit the gym or save more money, you might consider deepening your relationship with God this 2023. Here are six new year’s resolutions to strengthen your faith in God.

Simplify Your Life

Look at the aspects of your life where there is excess. Have you been overeating? Are you hoarding unnecessary items? It’s time to declutter these items and give some of them away.

Simplifying your life this 2023 may also mean decluttering your mental and spiritual states. Get rid of distractions that prevent you from pursuing God. For example, instead of checking your phone first thing in the morning, why not talk to God and thank Him for another day?

Be More Mindful of God’s Presence

It’s easy to forget God despite starting each day with prayer and worship. We rush through our household tasks and jobs, disregarding His presence everywhere.

Set reminders throughout the day using Post-it notes, phone alarms, and other notifications. These notes may say, “God’s got this” or “God is with you.” The more you feel God’s presence, the easier it is to navigate your life with the Spirit’s support.

Connect to a Church

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” -Hebrew 10:24-25

We experience hardships and commit mistakes because we are humans. That’s why Jesus built the Church to give you the support you need.

With our help, you can easily find a church near you. We’ll connect you to a church to help you achieve your spiritual needs and goals.

Commit to a Daily Act of Kindness

The ten commandments summarized is “Love God and your neighbors.” Committing to a daily act of kindness this 2023 will help other people and yourself increase feelings of well-being. It will also improve your empathy, compassion, and relationship with God. Here are some ideas:

  • Compliment strangers.
  • Share your favorite book with someone.
  • Donate to your local charity or animal shelter.
  • Buy someone food.
  • Be an organ donor.
  • Share a favorite memory.

Read Spiritual Books

One way to put spirituality into practice this new year is to read spiritual books. The Bible will always be your primary reference. But it helps to learn about other books that will allow you to understand your faith more deeply.

Some books to consider include The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis, and Knowing God by JI Packer.

Share the Gospel

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” -Matthew 28:19

Make it a new year’s resolution to share the Word of the Lord with your community. Aside from the fact that we have been commanded to do so, sharing the gospel is a display of our love for our neighbors. We strive for others to deepen their gratitude for the cross and their prayer lives.
