Make A Difference For Others This Christmas

Make A Difference For Others This Christmas

Jesus is life’s greatest gift to humanity. Like Him, we want to be generous and loving. God can help us be more creative in making a difference for others this Christmas. Here are some ways to celebrate the Holidays in the name of Jesus.

Celebrate Advent Too

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14

Advent is an excellent way to welcome the Christmas spirit in our homes four weeks early. This preparation season lets us reflect and cleanse our hearts before the birth of Jesus Christ. Make a difference for others by sharing the message that our savior is coming.

You can do random acts of kindness like visiting a neighbor who lives alone or adopting from your local shelter. Another significant act of kindness during the Advent season is donating blood. If you’re fit and healthy, you are qualified to give blood.

Instead of shopping, partying, and joining the holiday noise, we remember the essence of Christmas. So make sure to set up an advent wreath at home, light four candles, and pray.

Give Love this Christmas

Our Lord is the most remarkable example of love. The famous scripture said:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

There are so many ways to spread the love this Christmas. But our holiday shopping and other tasks could easily be distracting. Here are some small ways you can get involved and leave a massive impact on your community:

  • Help a neighbor set up their decorations.
  • Volunteer at a local charity.
  • Donate food and blankets on Christmas eve.
  • Gift a loved one an experience they can enjoy instead of a material thing.

Confront Consumerism

Christmas is all about sharing, family, and love. It’s not about spending a lot of money to guarantee happiness.

Holiday pressure is a real phenomenon because advertisers outdo each other, gift exchanges are organized, and organizations seek our generosity. Fortunately, many ways exist to make a difference for others without spending too much.

Making handmade presents will make your loved ones happy. They are unique, personalized, and valuable. They require inspiration and time, both gifts we receive from God on a daily basis.

Remember Jesus

Christmas is not only about setting up your tree, wrapping gifts, and eating good food. It’s a season to remember the birth of Jesus Christ as a family and follow him together.

I’m not saying you should quit the festive practices. But when you put up your lights, remember that it’s because Jesus is the light of the world. When you prepare your food, recall how Jesus fed 5000 people. We give gifts because Jesus is the ultimate giver.

There are endless Christian meanings behind our small traditions during the holidays. Make sure to tie everything back to Jesus.
