Does God Want Me To Be Happy?

Does God Want Me To Be Happy?

Before answering the question, ‘does God want me to be happy?’ it’s essential to keep in mind that our conception of “happy” is often very much off base. A lot of people believe that in order to be happy, you need to have more money and more material goods. This is especially true of people who don’t have a lot of money.

We often think that winning the lottery or being able to buy a big house will make us happy. But have you ever considered calling those notions into question? The majority of individuals don’t, which is perplexing when you consider the abundance of famous examples that exist of people who have acquired all the material possessions they desired, yet are still very miserable and unsatisfied with their lives.

God and Happiness Are Not Two Separate Things

It is a popular saying that “God cares more about our holiness than our happiness.” While this is true in one sense, it also makes it sound like we have to choose between being happy and following God. This is not the case at all. God cares about both our happiness and our holiness. God created us in order for us to discover that the greatest joy and happiness are found with Him.

God Knows What Will Make you Happy

Keep in mind that God is all-knowing. He is aware of what will occur in the future. God knows you. He is aware of you. He is aware of the things that will make you happy and of the things that bring you unhappiness. Human advice may seem wise and knowledgeable, but if it is not founded on God’s Word, it cannot be considered to be such.

Adam and Eve Disobeyed God

There has always been bad counsel around. The first entity to offer humanity terrible advice was Satan. He assured Eve that she and Adam would be happy if they made their own life choices instead of doing what God told them to do.

However, Satan was a liar. Satan is the King of Deception. He wanted Adam and Eve to submit to him and worship him, not God. However, Satan had done nothing to benefit people. All of what Adam and Eve possessed was a gift from God.

God provided them with each other, a lovely garden in which to reside, and wonderful human bodies that would endure forever and never grow sick or die. Sadly, God was not obeyed by Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve gradually became older and passed away. All humans were affected because of their disobedience, and now, happiness often eludes us.

What is True Happiness?

Happiness is not derived from material possessions. True happiness comes from following God’s plan for us. The Bible demonstrates over and over again God’s gracious desire to make his people happy, to experience the abundance of fullness, fulfillment, and contentment that overflows through him. God did not only build a world for us to survive. He also built a world for us to enjoy and be happy, and thrive.

Adam and Eve dwelt in a lovely garden with an abundance of delectable fruit. They were made to have pleasure in physical intimacy and the closeness of marriage. A few generations later, the Israelites were delivered from slavery and placed in a country that flowed with milk and honey, the rich, sweet flavor serving as a prelude to paradise.

God Made Us to Experience Pleasure and Happiness

God also fashioned our senses as a means of pleasure. He endowed us with eyes to behold grand vistas and vibrant sunsets as well as ears to hear the soul-stirring sounds of music. We are able to smell and taste delicious food, see the beauty of morning dew, and listen to crackling flames in a fire.

We delight in the flavors of saltiness, sweetness, and savory. All this pleasure and happiness is only possible because of God’s desire for us to be happy. It is the answer to the question, ‘does God want me to be happy?’

God Has Shown the Way to be Happy

If you really believe what the Bible teaches, you will discover that it offers the only true path in every facet of life because the Bible outlines the proper way for everyone to live and act in society. In return, God only wants you to be humble and follow God’s law. God wants you to practice justice, compassion, and love.

True Happiness Comes From Following the Bible’s Laws

If you are unhappy, could it be because you are not living up to what God has asked of you? When you start to examine your own actions and discover that you are gradually conforming to God’s standards, that is when you may really feel satisfied and happy. Your life will gradually become happier.

Many people have discovered that they have found pleasure, release from frustration, restoration of human dignity, a sense of satisfaction, and a true purpose in life when they live their lives in accordance with the ideals of the Bible.

Those who have found true happiness find that it is easy to hold onto it. No one can take it away. It is not a material possession that can be stolen or seized by another.

These people are content with what they have discovered in the words of the Bible and aware that others are looking for pleasure as well. God is fair to everybody. He promises the same satisfaction to anybody who honestly examines the Bible, which is his Word.

Now you can know without a doubt that, yes, God wants you to be happy. And God has shown the way to true happiness in the words of the Bible. God’s love for us is unlimited. Anyone who wants to be happy can be. All you have to do is follow God’s laws, which are clearly written in the Bible. You can choose happiness. Happiness is a decision.
