Are You Asking God for The Impossible?
Mark 10:27. Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Do not be afraid when praying to ask for the impossible. Miracles occur when the impossible becomes possible.
Pray Each Day
Pew Research reports that about 55% of Americans say they pray at least once daily. That might be 181 million daily prayers or more if a person prays more than once daily. Can you imagine what that feels like to God? It is not what you might suppose. Rather than being annoying, God wants to communicate with you and loves to hear your prayers, even for things that seem impossible.
Why do prayers go unanswered?
Trust in God. If you pray for something and do not get your prayer request, you may not realize there is a higher and better purpose. It may be better for you if your prayer is not answered. Don’t use this as an excuse. Just keep praying.
American theologian Tim Keller says, “God will either give us what we asked or give us what we would have asked if we knew everything He knows.”
Hope is Eternal
People who experience miracles through the grace of God never give up hope. They know that an almost unbearable burden is a test of their faith. They continue to pray with dedication and conviction despite the most challenging circumstances, even with all the odds stacked against them.
Miracles Happen
Reading about miracles in the Bible that happened long ago reminds us that miracles do happen from the power of prayer. Here are some real-life, modern-day miracles.
Falling to Her Death
Lareece Butler parachuted from a plane, and her faulty chute failed to open properly. Her emergency chute also failed. Facing an impossible situation and certain death, she prayed, “God, please save me. I have a son.”
She survived the 3,000-foot fall and woke up in the hospital with a concussion, a broken pelvis, and a broken leg. Her family and son were by her hospital bedside.
Dead on Arrival
Tracy Hermanstorfer was giving birth in a hospital late Christmas Eve when her heart stopped beating. This heart failure put the mother and baby in grave danger. Doctors tried to revive the mother but failed. In an emergency procedure, the doctors removed the baby by C-section. The mother and baby were not breathing and were presumed dead by the father watching.
The father believes it was all in God’s hands. To everyone’s shock, the mother’s heart started beating again, and a few moments later, the baby boy started breathing. Both recovered to full health before leaving the hospital to go home.
Down But Not Out
Grayson Kirby was thrown from a demolition derby car during a race in Virginia. Almost every bone in his body was broken. His lungs were smashed. He had traumatic brain injuries, and his kidneys were failing. He was in a coma, unlikely to survive.
His father prayed for his recovery along with the family. Then, thousands in the local community joined in with their prayers. All wore red shirts to show they were praying for him constantly. Ten days after the accident, he woke up and told his father he loved him.
The doctors could not believe it. Kirby said that he knew that prayer and believing were why God saved him.
Praying for the Impossible
If you are not praying for the impossible, why not? Go ahead and pray for the impossible with this simple prayer by adding your request in the blank space.
Oh Lord, show me with your love that everything is possible. Grant me my request for an impossible miracle today of _______ in the name of Jesus.
