Achieving Balance Between Faith and Modern Life

Achieving Balance Between Faith and Modern Life

God has been around since the beginning of time to connect with us. He has remained powerful from ancient times until the digital age. So how do you practice your faith in modern times? Learn how to live a balanced life using these tips.

Make Changes

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Living a Christian life entails the need to change oneself. Hence, we are encouraged to open our minds to different ideas and make “faith-filled swaps.” It can be as simple as adding worship songs to your Spotify playlist or buying a cross accessory. While these activities might seem superficial, they can help us remain in a posture of faith.

We could also try a diet or lifestyle that aligns with our Christian beliefs, such as reducing alcohol intake and unhealthy dishes. You can also start using modern art mediums and tools to praise God.

Be a Being of Heart

God loves. His personality consists of a single system that loves all people and things, no matter what. Like Him, you can live a spiritual life by becoming a being of the heart instead of worldly objects.

Loving everyone and everything, especially God, is the ultimate secret to achieving the balance between faith and modern love. You may appreciate new technology, infrastructure, ideas, and art. But you should not let them define your personality.

Embrace Traditions

Ancient traditions don’t always oppose modern life. For example, attending the mass or worship every Sunday can help you de-stress from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Or hosting game nights with your friends using themes of faith and Christianity.

Another example is the practice of being a modern-day Christian woman, you can embrace your femininity by enjoying fashion and style. But it is also your duty to stay modest in your behavior and words while remaining a witness of God in your family and marriage.

Continue Knowing God

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17

We all know that God exists. Changes in technology, economy, and culture may change our faith. But God remains steadfast and unchanging.

Social media, smartphones, and other modern tools can be excellent ways to know more about God. Meeting new people also allows you to see God in them!

Be Inclusive

Practicing inclusivity means welcoming everyone to your Church and all its events, regardless of age, sexuality, race, class, and ability. Jesus himself stopped the exclusion of the marginalized members of society. Let’s continue praising Him and following in His footsteps in removing social divisions.

Being inclusive also means understanding different religions. This diversity creates historical narratives, relationships, and essential structures in society. Most beliefs even have the same God as us!

Face the Facts

“As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.” – 2 Peter 3:16

A Swiss Theologian named Karl Bath once said, “Take your Bible and take your newspaper. Read both. But interpret newspapers from your Bible.”

In an age of misinformation and fake news, facing the facts is essential to being a progressive Christian. Remember that faith, facts, and reason complement each other.

Recognize the realities of our society, both good and bad. Then, analyze them according to the Scriptures. By God’s revelation to us, we become closer to arriving at truth.

Stay Authentic

A balanced life is easy to accomplish if you concentrate more on praising God and improving your morals instead of having a conservative and limited focus on doctrine. Remember that authentic Christianity is not established on rigid rules.

You still need to honor the commandments. Do not lie, steal, or covet your neighbor’s wife. But these are only secondary to your main goal: building a relationship with God.

Practicing authentic faith starts by understanding God. Have an accurate understanding of Him as a loving God, not one who punishes. Then, build relationships with other people and yourself based on faith.
