Reflections On The Scripture: Our Father in Heaven, much like Gideon in this scripture, took a risk, a grand adventure, if we may say so, for us his children. His deepest desire was to deliver us from the bonds of our own Midian, our sins and the snares of the enemy. He reached into the muck and mire of our situation to lift us, not hesitating to place His own Son Jesus on the cross as our ransom. How mighty is that love! Our Heavenly Father loves us so greatly that He places our lives above His own. Every day we strive to emulate that sacrificial love in our relationships with each other, understanding that Christian love is not a feeling but a choice, an act of will, a conscious decision to put others before ourselves, just as our Father has done for us.
