Reflections On The Scripture: The Philistines were formidable forces of the time, creating strife for the people of God continually. Yet, as we see in 1 Samuel 13:23, they went out to the passage of Michmash - a significant battlefield. Today, in the spiritual sense, we must understand that challenges and difficulties we face, our 'Philistines', are not there to destroy us. Rather they are battlefield where our faith will be tested, our strength measured and our character forged. God is not surprised by the battles we fight and He equips us with everything we need for that passage or situation. Just as in the battlefield of Michmash, our trials can become a passage, leading us to a greater understanding and melding us into the image of Christ. So, let's not be daunted by the passages we must walk through. Instead, let us face it bravely, knowing fully well that our Almighty Creator is beside us, guiding us every step of the way.
