This type of church is one that finds its doctrines most closely aligned with the protestant denominations known as Baptist. A church is a group of people who meet together regularly in the public practice of their individual relationships with God. Many churches have a different set of collective beliefs, which is where the different Christian denominations come from. A Baptist church is a group of people who meet together regularly in the practice of their Christian religion. These meetings are for times of prayer, Bible study, worship, fellowship, to serve one another, and to go out together and tell others about God's salvation, whether through singing Christmas carols, serving in a homeless shelter, or witnessing to others door to door. Baptist is one of the largest of the "protestant" denominations that would include Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, among others.

Baptist Churches

One of the biggest things that defines Baptist churches is the fact that each individual Baptist church is autonomous; that is, they are self-governing without having to answer to a large denominational body. Baptist churches are free to organize themselves and to govern themselves as they see fit. The advantage this has for each church is that the membership of each local church has the right to organize themselves and to function as they see fit. Whatever needs the local people who make up the church see in their membership and in their community, they are free to meet those needs as best as they can. Baptist churches are organizations that are chartered much like a corporation; they have bylaws, elected and appointed leader, and a self-maintained membership. The larger Baptist denomination offers guidelines, support, and maintain a list of 'cooperating' churches across the country. What makes a church Baptist is its willingness to be defined by the theology that most Baptists agree to. This theology is detailed in a little booklet called The Baptist Faith and Message.

Is this type of worship practice better or worse? Neither, this form of worship is just different.

Church of God

The Church of God is one of the types of Christian churches in America, alongside some of the larger denominations in our country. A Church of God church would be considered more of a charismatic church as opposed to a more formal type of church. Who makes up the membership of the Church of God? The membership is composed of Christians who believe in some of the more sensational gifts of the Holy Spirit. By far, Church of God Christians have more in common with formal denominational Christians than they have differences. When a person becomes a Christian, they begin a relationship with God our heavenly Father, through a belief in his son Jesus. This relationship that a person has with God through Jesus is by far the most important thing a person will ever be a part of on this earth. A Christian's subsequent membership in a local church comes after a person begins their relationship with God. Church of God holds the same beliefs about how a person becomes a Christian as does the other national denominations of Christianity.

Church Worship

After Jesus died and rose again, he ascended back to heaven where he came from. We his followers were left on this earth to carry on his work. As our creator God sent his son to die on the cross for our sins so that we might be restored to a right relationship with him. He did this because he loved us. God's great gift to us in his son inspires us to love him and worship him for his greatness. Church worship is that activity we do as a church to praise God and celebrate his goodness to us and to his world. Church worship is one of the five main purposes of the church. In worship, we the people of God verbally praise God by singing songs of praise to him, praying out loud to him, and by speaking to each other of God's holiness, kindness, and generousity to us. In church worship we meet together often at the church, in a systematic way: that is we meet at a regularly scheduled time, usually once a week, and follow some kind of previously agreed upon order of worship.

City Church

A City Church is a church in the city. A City Church is a non-denominational church; that is, it is not associated with any of the national denominations of Christian Churches. The distinguishing aspect of a city church is its classification as a church. A church is group of people who have chosen to organize themselves together as a local church. The people are the church and they all share the common trait of being Christians. To be a Christian, a person has at some point realized they were a sinner and in need of the forgiveness of God. This person has also repented of their sins (expressed a commitment to try to stop sinning) and placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. There are different ways to accomplish these couple of things. Some people become a Christian like this by praying these several things in prayer to God. One advantage of becoming a Christian in this way is that a person is already stepping out in faith to God, a necessary part of becoming a Christian, in this act of prayer, even while they are verbalizing their commitments to God.

Second, a Community Church communicates to others that it is a church that places a high priority on allowing and encouraging its members to form valuable relationships with others in the church. Community Churches typically place a high value on providing for the needs of others to love and be loved, and to trust and be trusted by others – to journey through this life with others of kindred minds and hearts. Fellowship Church

A fellowship church is one in which the members have as one of their highest priorities fellowship; one of the five main purposes on the church. A fellowship church believes that one of the most important things they can do as a church to follow God's will is to have fellowship one with another. God is a personal God. He loves his people and he wants his people to love each other the way that he loves them. God gave his only son Jesus to this world because he knew we people were unable to please God ourselves in the way he deserves because we have the problem of sin in our lives. When God gave his son to us, he knew Jesus would live a perfectly righteous life and would not sin. Jesus thereby pleased God himself, in a way that no other person would ever be able to do. Not only that, but because of the sin in our lives, we people could not accept Jesus and we had him tortured and killed. Through Jesus' death on the cross, God placed on him all the sins of people everywhere, thereby by making us righteous as well, all of us who have placed our faith in Jesus and accepted him as our Savior and Lord. This great gift of us from God of his only Son Jesus, showed us how much he loved us. It is God's love for us that motivates us to love each other as well. A fellowship Church is so named because it places such a high priority on our love for each other that stems from how much we know God loves us.

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church gets its name from being the first Baptist church incorporated within a given city or town. The full name of this church is often First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia, or of some other municipal location. Often times, the first Baptist church to be incorporated in a certain area remains the biggest Baptist church in the area. This phenomenon probably occurs by virtue of the name of this church coming up first in conversations among the citizens, listings in the phone books and newspapers, etc. Another interesting phenomenon one sees about First Baptist Church, especially in older areas, is that the churches buildings and membership are quite old. Again this phenomenon probably occurs because the First Baptist Church was established early in the life of the town and hence ages right along with the town and its people. The First Baptist Church is most excellent in one important regard: it is representative of the most lasting organization this world has ever and will ever see. The Church of Jesus Christ, as taught in the Bible, will remain forever, even after this entire earthly world is gone.
